Natasha Onyeaju
(She/Her/Hers)
Hello! I am Natasha.
I have worked with a broad range of ethnic, socioeconomic, racial, and gender expressions. I am currently working with youth ages 17 up to older adults transitioning into retirement.
I have counseled clients one-on-one through video, phone and in-person sessions using Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also have training in Emotional Focused Therapy and Compassion-focused therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
I mainly specialize with clients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and those who experience depression and anxiety.
I work with clients using trauma-informed practices and tools and at the same time, I balance that by using the sessions themselves to build safety and for the client to feel understood. This in turn builds nervous system capacity.
I believe in highlighting the strengths an individual already possesses while acknowledging their goals. I use psychoeducation on trauma to build acceptance and then skills from DBT or other trauma-informed practices to foster change.
I see myself in my clients. I see them as human beings who have been hurt. Human beings who possessive many strengths. My goal is to walk along side you, join you where you are and remind you of that strength.
Sessions are not always tough. We can laugh and talk about things you enjoy doing and the things you want to do.
In my spare time I enjoy singing, dancing, playing with my two cats Luna and Dahlia, spending time with loved ones, doing yoga, going for walks, and watching shows like This Is Us or Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
